Frequently Asked Questions

Our hardwood pegs are convenient for installing fences. Drive a hardwood peg into the ground at one of the end post positions. Then use a string line along the boundary and stake the opposite end post. Measure and stake all intermediate posts at equal distances. This will guide you on where to place the fence posts.

You can use our wooden pegs to reinforce timber fencing as well, or you can nail mesh fencing to wooden stakes to surround gardens and contain pets.

We believe it’s better to stake tomatoes. This is because stakes:

  • Take up less space
  • Are easy to install
  • Keep the vine & tomatoes off the ground, so the fruit is cleaner & fresher
  • Make it easy to see & harvest the tomatoes

Stakes also require you to prune the plant more often. Pruning causes the plant to focus more of its energy into ripening fruit. So, you can benefit from an early harvest and larger tomatoes.

If you reuse survey pegs between projects or move survey pegs from one location to another during a project, you can maintain your survey pegs by cleaning them with soap and water. Other than this, our survey pegs are built to withstand wind and rain and are protected by weatherproof paint. This means our survey pegs require little maintenance to last for many years.

Our survey pegs can be used for a wide variety of purposes, including marking out residential boundaries and precisely marking where elements must be installed on a construction site. Using survey pegs prevents costly mistakes during development and construction and makes it easier for surveyors to complete their work quickly and efficiently. At The Pegman, we pride ourselves on our durable and practical survey pegs. Our pegs are made from locally-sourced hardwood and are built to last, carrying a life expectancy of up to 25 years. They come complete with a smooth finish that is easy to handle and prevents splintering, and they aren’t treated, so you won’t need to worry about chemicals or carcinogens. With their square tip, you’ll find them easy to use, no matter the condition of the soil. Survey pegs can prove a hazard at night and in areas of low light and visibility, so we paint our pegs white to ensure they’re easy to see and have a range of other colours on hand for you to choose from.
