Frequently Asked Questions

Steel cap pegs are a popular choice with concreters. They can be used several times over and are longer lasting than regular hardwood pegs. Steel cap pegs provide extra support for formwork, which is a temporary or permanent mould that tradespeople pour concrete into.

There’s no set rule for intervals or depth when it comes to driving in the pegs; However, the top edge of the formwork should be level (concrete is normally poured to that height). We advise driving in steel cap pegs at least 20 to 30 centimetres into the ground, with intervals between the pegs at no more than a metre on the outside of the formwork. Then, you can nail the formwork to these pegs to prevent them from moving while you pour the concrete and it cures.

We’ve been making pegs for years at our timber mill, with a highly experienced team of specialists that are the best in the business. With more than 50 years of experience, our timber team has the knowledge and expertise to deliver high-quality pegs for every one of our customers.

We’ve tried many timbers over the years, but we’ve always gone back to high-quality hardwood, purchased directly from NSW and Queensland through sustainable and locally sourced methods. These pegs are non-treated and have a class two durability to last up to 25 years.

If you’re unsure which size peg you need, our expert team would be happy to provide you with advice and guidance.

Call 02 4987 2860 or enquire online, and our team can get you all set up with our high-quality steel cap pegs. With delivery across the region, we can have your pegs on their way as quickly as possible after you place your order.
